SSD vs HDD: Which Storage Should You Choose?
When buying or upgrading a computer, one of the biggest decisions you’ll face is choosing between an SSD (Solid State Drive) and an HDD (Hard Disk Drive). Both are types of storage devices, but they differ greatly in how they work, their performance, and their ideal use cases. So, which one should you pick for your needs?
At the most basic level, an HDD is an older form of storage that relies on spinning magnetic disks to read and write data, while an SSD uses flash memory chips with no moving parts. This fundamental difference explains why SSDs are faster, more durable, and generally more expensive, whereas HDDs still remain popular for their affordability and larger storage capacities.
