Morning time in Java Highest Peaks (Part 2)

Towards sunset, we began our journey. 5 posts must be traversed to reach Ranukumbolo lake. The initial trekking climb to post 4 is dominated by typical trees that are not too dense. At each post, there are also small stalls as a marker, so there is no need to worry about running out of logistics if you are on Semeru Mountain. After walking for less than 4 hours we arrived at post 4 and took a short break. From here, Ranukumbolo has been seen surrounded by tent lights on the edges. From post 4 to Ranukumbolo it is very close to the road down the hill so that before 22:00 we were able to reach the lake. There is a shelter with a fairly large room and without thinking, we finally decided to spend the night in this shelter without having to open a tent. The situation in the shelter is a stage on the right and left can also be used to sleep but still, his name is on the mountain even though sleeping in something like a house (roofed) the temperature is still cold and must continue to use sleeping bags. Unfortunately, in this shelter there are piles of garbage in the corner of the room, causing a slightly disturbing odor. Maybe this could be a concern again for the climbers and managers of TNBTS.

The situation of the smell of garbage in this shelter is indeed rather disturbing so I have to wake up several times to move away to avoid this smell. But whatever it has to be enjoyed, the name of life on the mountain must be completely "legowo" yes.

My curiosity about Lake Ranukumbolo was answered this morning, the lake that I had seen on much social media was finally watched by my own eyes. Even from the very early morning, I had woken up to see the morning show on the shores of the lake.

That morning the weather was not very friendly, there was a lot of mist covering the hills at the edge of the lake. But the morning in this place is indeed spectacular. Much morning calm is given just by looking at it. Thank you for another magnificent show of nature.

The sun had started to rise we started cooking rice and getting ready to continue the journey. It starts with a very famous climb because of the 5 cm film, which is a love climb that we pass for about 20 minutes. Then after being amazed by Lake Ranukumbolo, again I was amazed by the vast savanna filled with Verbena brasiliensis which is often called the Oro-Oro Ombo. For a long time, we enjoyed the beauty here, just being alone and exploring corners that we could still reach.

We continued our journey and entered the forest which was not too dense with trees and sloping road terrain. Arrived at Cemoro Sewu Post. We rested for a while before returning to continue walking. It is true that said some people do not have to worry in Semeru about logistics, because even at this post there are still small shop people. So, fresh watermelons can be found everywhere.

With the sloping road, we continued our journey and arrived at the Jambangan Post. We should have been able to see the peak of Mahameru from a distance but unfortunately the weather that day was foggy with drizzle. Without taking a rest for about 15 minutes we arrived at camp 2, Kalimati. It was still daytime but we immediately set up a tent and cooked food. So that it can save energy for the summit tomorrow morning. At the Kalimati Post there is a water source named Sumber Mani but to take it we have to walk about 15 minutes located west of Kalimati.

To the summit to the top of Mahameru is still very far away. It takes about 6 hours to travel, so it is recommended to start early in the morning so it is not too late to get to the top. So that night we took leave early so we could wake up more.

At 00.00 I woke up but no one woke up that night. Tynol and Ndut, who have been here several times, do not want to take you to the top when the weather is drizzling or rainy. A little upset, but still ‘they are the boss’ haha. Fortunately, the weather was very sunny that night. Many stars are visible and there are already several other groups of climbers who have started summit. So like it or not, again they have to summit to the top of Mahameru which is said to be very draining. Thank you, Tynol, mas Ndut. And it turned out that I wasn't the only excited one, Bang Mulya was the same. So Bang Mulya and I immediately prepared enough provisions and then woke up those who were still sleeping.
